I don't know what kind of scraper you are using. I have found that a carbide scraper digs in at the corners of the blade on flat surfaces and does more damage than good. However a cabinet scraper is just the ticket for scraping bugs, fuzz ,bumps and runs off stained plywood. You can tell by the color of the shavings when you are just starting into the dye/wood. Several passes over just a single seal coat will come off white showing pure epoxy.
