I've got the same problem. My concern was more for the epoxy fumes than the sanding dust. When doing epoxy work I use a full face mask (made by 3M) which has the exchangeable cartridge filters. The challenge is that at the outset it can sometimes fog up, but it then tends to clear. It wasn't cheap. It cost me $100 (Canadian, which is close to $70 US) .When I sand I just use a regular cartridge face mask.
