Hi
I've used both acrylics and enamels with good results. I put it on after I glass so the lines stay sharp and put epoxy over it so I don't inadvertantly sand it off when preping for varnish or when I sand the varnish down to re-coat. Also to make sure my epoxy bond with the wood is as good as possible. It would probably work just as well to paint over a sealer coat that had been sanded.
good luck

: I want to paint a couple of small decorations on my kayak before
: fiberglassing. Specifically, I am inlyaing some fish on the deck, but I
: want to paint the eyes on the fish.
: What kind of paint should I use? Enamel? Acrylic? Laquer? Other?
: Should I paint after I put a sealer coat of epoxy or paint on the naked wood?
: Thanks for your help.
