: The problem I foresee with applying a wax finish is the fact that you must
: remove all trace of wax in any area that you have to perform a varnish
: touch-up to repair any scratches that might occur during the paddling
: season.

: I also don't want to spend a lot of time buffing and polishing to obtain a
: mirror finish that is going to pick up a few minor scratches once the boat
: is launched.

: Imagine how that Jaguar owner would feel if his car got scratched the first
: time he drove it after all that polishing and waxing work!!!!! Things like
: that can and do happen no matter how careful you are.

: Glen in Baie-St-Paul.

I can see we are going to split words here ;-)

First, it's a kayak meant to hit rocky beaches and car-racks, not a showcase-Jag. Second, i just used wax in warm water and a sponge. Third i guess that repairing scratches will require a certain amount of scrubbing with water, thinner and sanding, wax-on-top or not. Last, i put on three layers of "Perfection" for a nice and shiny look - not 8-10 layers on "somethingelse" :-)
