I don't know if the glue will seal the wood, but the risk of it interfering with epoxy adhesion is reason enough to avoid it since there are other ways to transfer the lines.
I've glued paper patterns down with 3M "77" spray adhesive, rubber cement, elmers white/school glue, and PVA glue. The "77" works best (doesn't wrinkle the paper) but all are equally difficult to remove. Elmers and PVA have to be sanded off. "77" stays tacky even if you get the paper off. Rubber cement isn't too awful, but still a pain to remove completely without sandind. Using solvent to dissolve glue only allows it to be driven further into the pores of the wood.
I've used self-adhesive 'sticker' paper (8.5 x 11 size) for similar things before, and it peels off more easily without leaving residue. If you are printing your panels on a large scale plotter, I don't know where you would find sheets or a roll of self-adhesive paper large enough for full panels, but I'd bet its more expensive than its worth. Of course, one could always print the panels as sections that fit onto 8.5 x 11 paper, but this allows a lot of instances for error.
: I'm ready to cut some plywood to put together a S&G but I am concerned about
: spraying glue onto the plywood. Will the glue (that holds the pattern
: down) seal the wood so that the epoxy will not soak in? Is it a better
: idea to trace the pattern shape onto the wood?
: What are your thoughts and experience?
: thanks
