I would think that if your thinking about building flat panels out of the cedar strips, then cutting them out into panels, they would be very stiff and resist being bent and twisted at the bow and stern. Even when building a cedar strip kayak, you can run into some areas that are hard to make the strips conform to. If a hard chine hull is what your looking for, you can build it just like any other stripper except use hard chine forms. Building a stripper isn't any harder than a S&G. You can use someone elses forms or you can make your own. I'll post a link to a webshots album of a hardchine cedar strip kayak that was copied from a SOF. Maybe it will give you some ideas.
