: not really - the Inuit were harpooning seals a long time ago. Thats got to be
: tougher than fishing!

Hi Fred and Patrick,
Harpooning a seal is a little bit different to fishing. Once thrown, there should be no connection between the kayak/kayaker and the harpoon. The float (can't remember the right name) is there to tire the seal.

With fishing, there is a connection but rods weren't used so the line drops right beside the kayak, not too much leverage to capsize you. I've fished for mackerel and pollock in my greenlander SoF, I just put a spare paddle out as a balance assist. My greenlander is just over 20" beam with 13" between chines, reasonable initial stability but very good secondary. It's the secondary that I think is more important.
