Hi Duane,
Like Tony, I'm a "smaller" paddler and I have the offsets saved.

Small technique details like your post makes the learning curve a bit 'drier'. I usually treat shore break and surf as stuff to get through rather than play in, (fishing habit) the MB looks like it would do both.
Any "surfing" I do is on green rollers, riding the top of the wave front. Hitching a ride rather than surfing. Fun.
