IIRC, in his book Nick suggests pulling the deck from the forms and glassing it at the same time as the hull. He uses a seal coat of epoxy to stiffen it enough to handle sans glass.

I may be doing exactly that, as my hull and deck have been sitting on the forms without any staples for nearly a year and is relaxing at the shearline. I can very easily push the shear back into alignment, but any fasteners I use to keep it there will end up under the glass. If I remove the deck, I can hot glue the hull back to the forms for glassing, and repeat if needed for the deck.
