Thanks Jay,

There is no glass on the boat yet, all staples pulled and the hull faired, then I restapled the shear. I flipped it to build the deck, pulled all the staples so I could do the inlay on the foredeck and shape the tips. It has sat like this for at least a year, and both hull and deck are loose on the forms except at the stems. You can see it in the pic. Right now it is very easy to close the gap, but my concern is that it won't be once it's glassed.
