Hey, Clayton...it is well worth the drive down to do the R2K thing. I did it back in 2007 and left with good memories. Joe puts on a good show and Fort Worden is a fantastic place to pitch a tent and do some paddling. The drive down took me a long time, probably 20 hours, complete with rest stops and stopping to check out interesting sights along the way. Would I do it again, I most likely will since I did not get enough time to check out the Washington coast line. I added in a few extra days to drive south and camp on a fairly secluded ocean beach front. My only regret was that I didn't drop the kayak in the water and do some ocean paddling while I camped out after R2K6 was done. The breaking waves coming in from the open ocean got me worried so I opted out of trying to get past them. Now that I have the S&G NH, I think I can handle them.
