This topic came up here a few months ago and a look through the Archives should find it. I just drill four 1/16" reference holes at the corners of the hatch outline that I have marked on the outside of the deck. Then I use those holes to line up the outline pattern on the inside. I go ahead and make the lip, centering it on the outline I marked. After the lip has cured I remove it and then cut out the hatch from the outside. I've done four hatches this way with no problems. (I put stiffeners on the underside of the hatch before I cut it.)
