Hi Robert,
I just took another look at your pictures and saw that you have a piloted bit. What I would do is, move the sections of the fence out far enough to clear the bit and add a sacrificial fence of pine. Make a cut-out for the bit and adjust this fence so it is on the same plane as the front of the bearing. This will give you a better cut and at the end of the day, you will still be able to count to ten on your fingers.
