On my 18' Night Heron S7G, I used 6-oz glass on the outside only with 2" tapes on the inside seams and no glass in the cockpit, Malcolm. I barely used anything for the fillets and there are no end pours. I used Seadog foot pegs and have no deck hardware yet. When I do put the hardware on, it will be minimal. I will be adding a camera compartment which will add just under a pound of weight. The kayak is super light as is right now and I figger when I finish it up proper, I will add not more than a pound. I can easily carry it with one hand on a windless day while lugging the other kayak along with help. The VJ weighs a ton but serves me well for bashing about amongst the ice pans and logs that I usually run over instead of paddle around. My best guess at this time is that the NH S&G weighs not more than 33-lbs and this guess is probably on the heavy side.

I will try and not use glass on the outside for whatever becomes my next build. I'd like to try tapes only on the inside seams. Seems I am getting older and appreciate lighter layups that what I did for my ice-breaking VJ.
