: The new year is quickly approaching and I hope to be finished with
: my first build this spring. I would like to get to a few wooden
: boat shows or kayak meets this summer, show off my build and see
: and test paddle others. Maybe zero in on my next build. Being
: new to kayaking I'm not real familiar with events yet. I'd like
: to keep it local but wouldn't mind traveling to one can't miss
: event. I am located in Minnesota but east or west coast not
: totally out of the question.

: I'm looking for event names, dates, locations, links, maybe a bit
: of a review.

: Below are a few that come to mind. Not sure if there is much like
: this in the midwest.

: West Coast Wooden Kayak Rendezvous R2K10
: Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival

I am a Strip Kayak Builder from East Central Illinois. I am working on my second Red Fish King Kayak. I built a Cape Ann Storm for my wife a few years ago. We have not found much interest in Strip Kayak Building in the midwest. Last Summer we went to a meet on the beach in Holland, Michigan. It was very nice with 15 to 20 great boats and worth the trip. If you find any other meets I would make plans to be there, as my schedule allows.
