Hello Pete,

Well there are a few reasons. I actually built it for Amy, my girlfriend who loves to surf. She needed a longboard, and I've always wanted to build one. I also just wanted to do something nice for her because she does so much for so many people and never gets anything in return.

I am already preparing for build #2... a stand up paddle board 12' in length. I love the idea of paddling into a wave and surfing it, and I also want to try to surf the ferry boat wakes. I have a dream where I surf the ferry boat wake all the way to St. John. I just want to be sure someone on board has a video camera if I do that.

Down here everyone has short boards because that's what's all the rage, but really this is an ideal place for a long board. We do sometimes get nice big swells at Hull Bay, Caret Bay, and on Tortola they get good stuff at Apple Bay, but a lot of the stuff here is smaller stuff that a longboard is better for. Also there are some offshore spots that longboards are a lot easier to paddle out to!
