It really is a great little row boat. A little history. The Cosine Wherry was designed by a professor in Seattle in response to a contest held by the Flounder Bay boat lumber company formerly in Port Townsend, Washington. Flounder Bay wanted a small boat design that anyone could build using their cedar lumber. A friend of the owner of the Flounder Bay commissioned the first boat to be built and they in turn used it in their marketing and for the inspiration for the book. The friend is still the owner and rows it quite a bit and even rowed it from Seattle to Alaska some years ago. It is in remarkable shape for being over 12 years old. Unfortunatley, Flounder Bay company no longer exists.
