Thanks for the notes, Bill. My plywood may be lighter than you think, at 18 inches (and, rather than 7/32 inch, I see it's 5.2mm luan type material). Now that you mention it, I think I do recall seeing an implementation of cedar slats that looked effective. Of course, the idea with the glass was to use little enough of it to offset its higher density.
