In Response To: Strip: Guillemot stern is kinda stern! (dave g)

: I am building a guillemot using 3/4 bead and cove 1/4 inch strips.
: I have put on five strips per side and have run into the first
: hard spot. To this point I have not needed to use cheater strips
: but now at form 16 I have a 1/4 to 3/8 gap from the strip to the
: form, at form 15 I managed to force the strip to stay against
: the form but just.

Hi Dave

I had the same problem (see pic), and posted a similar question about a year ago. There were lots of helpful replies which you may find useful.

Here's the post I submitted to this forum:
http://www.kayakforum.com/cgi-bin/Building/index.cgi/md/read/id/181288
And a similar one on Ross Leidy's Blue Heron Kayaks forum:
http://www.blueheronkayaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1064

Here's a link to what I did to fix it (but I'm a novice, so don't take my approach too seriously! e.g. I don't know if wetting the hull to loosen the glue was really that good an idea. Still the glue all seemed to reset ok so fingers crossed.)
