Leg length was probably the problem for you as it had fixed heel and "ball of the foot" braces. My skinny weighs in at 27 pounds, with the WRC frame, 9oz polyester skin with water-based polyurethane. I eliminated the screws, using only polyurethane glue instead. I made an original Walrus, then the plywood walrus, where I moved the cockpit back about 2", and raised the bow 4". After that came the skinny Walrus based on Skene's Drawings of a west greenland kayak he surveyed, and finally the stubby or stealth walrus, a shorter version, for my brother to use for fishing on small lakes and rivers.

Yes, I remember Bill's and Rehd's. Rehd had the 18.5 version set up as an open cockpit double. Don Beale also did a strip built version.

The plywood version was quite a success, as I made it to Skene's Walrus dimensions eliminating Putz's errors.
