: I'm curious as to the rationale for two layers of 3.2, as opposed

: so much about Silvertip?

The two layers of 3.2 are because of cost. 60 dollars for 50 yards from thayercraft. 40x40 is the weave style number 1658 I believe. As for the silvertip; all I have used before is west 105/207, I really liked the water clear color ( although I have not seen wests new hardener supposedly also water clear), when heated it seemed to wet out the cloth faster than the other ( I have some west on hand and did two test pieces), I also found there to be no smell and while stirring, spreading, squeegeeing (if that is a word) there was hardly any foam or bubbles to tip off after. Lastly the 2:1 mix ratio was nice compared to wests 3.3:1 or whatever it is. I guess it is all a matter of opinion I have only ever used west before and the only reason I even tried silvertip was the great deal I got on the 1.5 gallon kit (120 bucks ), I have always been a one brand type of guy (stick with what you know) but this was a good first run worth a second I believe.

My 2cents for what it is worth
