: I finished 1 canoe and 2 kayaks and am starting my 3rd kayak. I
: like the bead and cove, so don't try talking me out of that. I
: also just bought a surface planer. My question is, after cutting
: the strips, should I cut the bead and cove, then plane to proper
: thickness, or should I plane first, then add the bead and cove.

: Thanks, Dan

Rip them at 1/4" then plane them to get your reduced thickness (3/16 or whatever). Ripping alone is not as accurate as ripping and planing. The more accurate you are at every step, the less fairing and sanding you'll have to do.
