I've used a somewhat different method, one I've been meaning write up. Someday.....

Anyway, here are three boats with "runout" coamings that I've done, fyi. I make the riser and the lip on separate forms, then join them on the boat. The lip is made double thick, then bookmatched on the table saw. Details if anybody's interested.
