Epoxy: clear epoxy

Hi All,
I had to apply the first coat of epoxy and cloth to my strip built guillemot L. a few months ago (early winter and prob too cold) to strenghten it all for an unplanned move from the shed it was started in. Now that Im back to it Ive found that the glass clearly shows the cloth weave and the finish isnt very clear. Will the finish improve if I sand back lightly and apply a second coat of epoxy as a filler or will I need to go back to the wood and start again. This is my first build and whilst Im not completely fussy about the final finish I would like to at least make a stab at getting it right. Hope you can help. Paul
