I'd like to make a bid for that title, as well . . .

I made my cradles out of foam floor tiles, gorilla tape and Goop. They work great and I find foam cradles to be to the most secure type of carrier. They keep the boats low to the roof = less wind resistance. In a cross wind, they do do not catch nearly as much wind as a J-mount. They can allow the boats to be ratcheted down, too. I can easily fit two boats on the top of my small Hyundai Accent.
