I have a Gerber Prodigy survival/camp knife which has served me well, no complaints at all except it is a little to big to carry on my PFD. I got lucky buying the Prodigy as I know little about knives, now I need some suggestions. I am thinking along the lines of having something quickly accessible for emergency cutting of things like tangled tow lines, paddle leashes, etc. I know I will never get the perfect knife but some of the things I "think" I need are; 2"-3" blade, no leather handle or sheath, able to mount upside down without falling out, easily removable from sheath, stainless, some sort of tang to prevent fingers from sliding up on the blade. You get the idea, not to large and easily accessible for time sensitive emergencies. what do you guys carry and what are the pro's and con's of your choices?
Thank you in advance
Randy
