Re: Tools: Building a strip thickness sander

My thickness sander is a 10" blank blade made for tablesaws with 10" self adhesive sandpaper.
Already has grooves for fingerboards and hold downs and shop vacuum hooked up ready to go.
Thickness determined by my infinitely adjustable rip fence :)

My father-in-law had a sanding disk on his Shopsmith and loved it. With the dust collection possibilities (zero) of the Shopsmith in his shop , it made for a dusty experience! But it was handy for 'fine tuning' panel sizes which is what I remember him doing with it.
Do you have a special throat insert for your sanding disk?
I get nervous with thin material on my disk sander.
The video linked in the original post shows thicknessing 'veneer thickness' stock.
