Morris' book also has a section on building a baidarka. It's worth the read, whichever way you go. After I finish my Greenland boat (build using his method, for the most part), I plan to build one of his recovery kayaks to use as a surf boat. Yeee Haaawwwww!

I just received a copy of David Zimmerly's book "Qayak" and gave it a quick once-over yesterday. If you're building a baidarka, I would suggest that this book is required reading.
