Eugene Arima's 'Inuit Kayaks in Canada ' is the bible of Canadian Kayaks , with many detailed drawings of kayaks, construction details and related cultural context. Still available from the Canadian Museum of Civilization (in Hull, Quebec) for around $15.00 or through your library via Inter-Library-Loan.

'Nanook of the North' is on video and includes some good footage of Eastern Hudson Bay kayaks.

Plans are not available ... from a drawing and Bob Boucher's Video on Greenland Kayak Building and the various books and magazine articles will get you started.

often the ribs are of 3 piece construction which is somewhat easier to do than steam bent ribs for a beginner.

Harvey Golden's excellent website http://home.pacifier.com/~qayaq/ has a few pics of a pieced rib hull on the Greenland page and has some photos of Eastern kayaks on the Canadian and Baffin pages.

Eastern Canadian kayak hulls are mostly flat bottomed and hard chined - they are more of a planing hull than a displacement hull which makes them quite fast considering their often large size.
