The Skimmer will turn when leaned. So I correct my course with sweep strokes and by leaning.

I have two ports or "hatches" 8" in dia. One gives access to small foward compartment and one aft. I have never over-nighted. I think it would be tight packing a tent ect.

The best answer to your last question is it works for me in San Francisco on day trips.
