Like Timothy said, they're pretty much useless for any other applications, but I have been _more_ than happy for clamping on sheer clamps and my coaming ring. If you notice on the picture I posted in my earlier post, there was a bit of epoxy that got smeared on the side panels as I was jostling the sheer clamps around. In that picture, you can see ALL of the pipe clamps I had at the time. They were not enough. Now I have about 50-60! You may not find too many other applications for them, but this application more than justifies buying a $6 length of pvc and cutting it up.

As for strength, I wouldn't waste the pvc couplers--they're pretty darn expensive. If you need a lot of clamping pressure in a small area, clamp a 3" "cheap clamp" and then clamp a 4" clamp over it. This is usually more than sufficient.

If you figure the cost of clamps, though, even at the cheap price of $10 for 6, you'd still need $50 worth of clamps at 15 per side. Sure, there is limited use for the cheap clamps elsewhere, but when do you actually need 30 real C-clamps?!?!? The most "real" clamps I've ever used is 6 or 7. You could spend $10 for 6 C-clamps and then another $6 bucks for 30 or 40 cheap clamps and spend your money toward a spray skirt or something. cheap cla
