I think I'll have to disagree with you there Mark. Before I decided to get off the factory floor and go to college, I worked for ten years in various factories using all sorts of heavy machinery. In some of these factories they would hold regular safety courses, During which there would be films and slides of real workshop accident victims. These images were intended to shock, and this worked. The low rate of accidents was something that managment was proud of. It wasn't anywhere near as low in the factories that didn't bother with safety education.

It's been years since I attended one of these courses, but I am still very safety consious every time I pick up a tool, This is solely because of the shock value of the pictures. Thinking about something is very different from knowing about it.
