I've had this happen on a couple spots on my kayak. One spot is due to me sitting on the deck while taking a break and another area happened around one hatch where the kayak was strapped, probably too tight, to my roof rack. I caused this on the front of my coaming as I pulled the carbon fiber coaming from the mold during construction. On the carbon coaming, it was easy to hide. I used a Sharpie to color the dots then epoxied over that and finished as usual. Don't think you need heat for this to happen though. It's possible heat may exacerbate the problem.
