: Well, depends, a lot of stuff is available in metric if you are in EU :D
: When i moved here and i hit the imperial system, it was a mess, i still keep
: feet and inches if im using full measures, below that i just work in
: metric.
: My excel spreadsheets convert in imperial, decimal imperial and metric,
: useful for tables of offsets if i have the patience to put the numbers in
: in first place, in the workshop i use a currency converter that we in
: Italy used during the period Euros and Liras were both up, i needed just
: to change the conversion factor. Honestly that little calculator its a
: godsend, faster than Excel, and fits in any pocket.

My work in wood patterns sometimes required converting blueprints to metric when doing work for customers from outside the US, for iron, aluminum and bronzes casting shipped over seas and machined there. Due to the company downsizing to save money there was no inspection beyond my work so if I made a mistake it would show up when the machining took place overseas and a lot of money would be lost. I was so glad to retire from that kind of pressure and do fun things like building kayaks. Had the US of been on the metric system life would have been easier. I use a hand canulator.
