One thing to realize is that the gaskets used for diving suits are often heavier and thicker than those used on paddling gear. This means that they don't stretch as easily so may feel tighter at the same size, but once sized correctly may last longer.

It is not a straight forward thing to replace the gaskets to the same quality of construction as is done at the factory. I would not plan on buying a suit and then replacing it with a more comfortable gasket.

Goretex still seems to be the way to go for fabric. While competitive products are being introduced, they don't yet seem to measure up. You get what you pay for with Goretex.

Once you get the gaskets fit right, a dry suit is by far the most comfortable solution for winter paddling. The relief zipper by itself is worth the price of a drysuit. If you have ever had to get naked in a snow storm because your wetsuit did not provide the needed access, you will rejoice at how easy and comfortably you can take care of business.

The booties also add a lot of comfort. Imagine walking into chest deep water while your feet stay perfectly dry. It is hard enough to keep feet warm without making them wet. Keeping them dry is most appreciated.

: Rather than my slobbering all over your neck gasket, I
: think I'll pick up one from OS Systems
