: I did some pretty extensive damage to my stitch and glue this summer and am
: trying to repair the ugliness now. I am cutting away fiberglass that has
: delaminated and need to clean out the seams so I can stitch back together
: and glue. If I heat the epoxy with a soldering gun or something of that
: nature will the epoxy be easier to remove? Is this advised? I also have
: hole in a panel. I have a piece of the hole, should I try to glue this
: back in or just use thickened epoxy? If I use thickened epoxy what should
: the thickener be.

: Thanks in advance for any help,

: Tom

Tom, could you be a little more specific? Is the delamination related to whatever is at the "seams". Is this crack/damage at the joint so large that the panels don't line up? This "hole", is it a quarter inch that can be filled with goop and backed with glass or is it a 1" chunk missing with 6" fracture radiating out along the direction of the grain?. I'd repair it in the same way you built it, sanding, grinding, glassing, filling, sanding, sealing, etc. If there's a hole much bigger than the thickness of the wood then replacing that hole with wood and backing it with glass on the outside with one layer of the same kind of glass that is on the hull and on the inside with a couple layers.
