Strip: Cutting a "patch"

Last week I posted a question regarding a very "thin" piece of deck close to the bow of my Expedition Sport under construction caused by my inexperience of stripping. The feedback was to "patch" the thin section before glassing.

What tools would board members recommend for cutting a triangular patch that can be filled with new strips? Chisels seem a bit neaderthal, a pull saw seems a bit clumsy and a router seems a bit risky. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!!
