Superglue will also bond well to end grain if you first dampen the end grain. The presence of moisture accelerates the bonding process. ALSO, CA, is a sensitizing allergen and once sensitized, that's it. So use with good ventilation. It will also kick with baking soda. I've used that approach to build up string slots on nuts on guitar necks that were too deep. Pack the slot with baking soda, a few drops of thin CA and you're ready to file a new string slot. Haven't found a use for that just yet in kayak building.
