: You asked, so I'll tell you my way...

If you want to make a small amount, take 3 9 oz plastic cheap clear cups.(the kind sold in packages of 100 for about $1.59)..use something with a straight edge, like a ruler and hold it horizontally against the cups. Make a horizontal line with a ball point pen acoss the three cups, about 3/4" high. Fill two cups to the line with resin, and the 3rd cup with hardener for a 2:1 ratio, as with RAKA 350. Use a popsicle stick to scrape the sides of cups 1 and 2 as you pour into 3.

Why waste cups? Because when you are doing something that might use a large, but unknown amount of epoxy, such as covering the boat with fiberglass cloth, you can have a lot of pre-filled, measured, but uncombined cups ready, to work efficiently. Don't mix each batch until you need it. And mix each batch for a solid 2 minutes, thoroughly! If you pre-measured too many cups, you can pour the unmixed resin and hardener back into the respective jugs - usually the resin is clear, and the hardener amber. This eliminates waste.

For instance, I ended up using about 16 oz. of epoxy to wet-out the fiberglass cloth on the hull, but probably only about 6-7 oz. for the fill coats. I had about 2 oz of resin or hardener in each cup, so each "batch" of 3 cups had a total of about 6 oz.

This way you don't have to worry about burping pumps, waste, etc.

P.S. - screwing the brass half-round...you got some good tips about not using brass screws...if you use steel, get stainless steel screws...another alternative might be bronze screws (silicon bronze) which are expensive, but you might not need very many.

Keep plugging along!
