Is it true that regular goretex loses its breathability upon exposure to salt water? I was told this by the guy at Seattle Fabrics when I was interested in making a paddling jacket. His point was that the non-breathable fabrics were the way to go if you'd be paddling in salt water.

Can anybody corroborate this?

: If the water is going to get cold, I'd suggest a breathable dry suit. A
: breathable dry top with latex seals and a double tunnel is useful, too,
: provided that you're not going to be swimming. Eventually, you'll probably
: own both.
