My 2cents worth on sea socks.
I used a sea sock regularly on a Feathercraft K1 Expedition, and found it not too bad for comfort. I tried a sock on my K-Light which is much smaller and felt like I was paddling in a plastic bag. I still use the small folder at times but without the sea sock.
I regularly practiced self rescue in the K1, with the sock (and floatation bags), and had no problem pumping out the small amount of water that remained in the cockpit after I reentered. There was no problem with the cloth being sucked up or coming loose. The Feathercraft sock is made of waterproofed nylon, quite light, but much too big for my SOF coaming. Socks do keep the inside of the boat much cleaner and keep the sand and gravel from collecting in the ribs. If I could get a similar type of sock for the SOF, I'd probably use it as well as floatation bags. Another problem with socks is that you cannot access the neat storage places around the cockpit, but there isn't much on a SOF anyway, and it's hard to reach in through the small cockpit so it really wouldn't matter. They are slightly slippery to sit on. Perhaps a non slip coating where your seat and hips fit? Small adaptations could also be added like velcro loops to keep the sock up to the deck beams.
