: My clamp collection,

Yes, I've a similar one!

: I am deliberately not working out how much I have spend on clamps.
: The same applies to Random orbital sanding disks!

The sanding disks, I'm not worried about so much...more the velcro grab hooks that bothers me...on my Porter Cable 5 inch, the hooks tend to warm up and "let go of the paper...I sanded the area of a station on one side of the center line once without sand paper on the sander...must have flown off when I wasn't looking.

: Hot glue! I only discovered this late in the project. It was invaluable for
: putting the risers on the cockpit coaming and also for holding some scrap
: ply in place which filled the gap between the deck and the bulkheads (I
: must have stuffed up somewhere).

Some people swear by hot glue...I've tried the clear stuff, and it was difficult to get off...I ended up taping the hull and glueing on top of that to keep the stations in place on my wife's Pygmy boat.

: A roll or 2 of masking tape. you can hold a lot of things with tape, In a
: pinch you can even use it for masking things off! I wish I had of had the
: patience to use it for more masking off as I believe this is the way to
: reduce a lot of sanding and scraping.

Yeah, the tape is a very useful thing. I like the clear plastic stuff for most barrier work, and the blue masking is very good because you can clearly see where the tape ends and the wood begins.

: A scraper is a wonderful tool which I only discovered late in the process
: which allows those inevitable dribbles of epoxy to be cleaned up with
: relative ease.

I'll have to give that a try the next time I run into drools.

: The fittings in Erics instructions (Most if not all of them are in Nicks Book
: too) just dont require you to use fasteners and in my view are all very
: functional and beautiful. the wooden footbrace feels a bit wonky

Wonky? I think that means wobbly...tipsy...off balance? Loose?

compared
: to the alluminium and plastic ones in my west river but it is much more
: comfortable.

In your West River with the plastic and alluminium foot braces, do your knees hurt from holding an awkward position under deck and the feet pressed on the sides of the hull against the foot braces...after longer paddles, I always feel like I've twisted my knees.

The arched deck fittings are an interesting half day with a
: bandsaw.

: The single biggest use of clamps was this effort with the cockpit.

I know that song.

: hope this helps,

You bet! And good job on your fastner less boat!
