I made this sting ray design a little differently. My yak was made of 1/4 inch thick strips so I used 5/16 inch thick strips for my ray because the deck was slightly rounded and I wanted the design to stand up enough to sand off flush with the deck curviture. I cut out all of my thin strip pieces for the ray and glued all of the strips together in a big raggidy square on the kitchen table. I used supper glue so I didn't have to do all of that clamping. Then I cut out the two triangles of the ray from the glued strips square and inserted them into the deck.
