After construction of my first SOF I also was concerned about initial stability. Removing the seat to lower cg helped. Practice helped alot more!

My current favorite boat has a 16-3/4" beam and no initial stability. In my opinion to take a current design and try to improve stability beyond a seat modification is a waste of time and from what I've seen usually produces some ugly looking results.

Spend more time paddling and practicing bracing and rolling skills. It builds confidence, improves safety and makes paddling much more enjoyable!
