Actually 8 degrees isn't alot, don't think it'll matter. It's awfully hard to stop paddling evenly so the boat, specially shorter ones, will go in a straight line. If the turn doesn't constantly increase in radius when you stop paddling, it's probably fine. Might solve a small directional instability with a tiny fixed skeg to keep it going straight.
