Those are about the same dimensions for the stringers in my Yost style Baidarka...

So far she's paddled about 100 miles with no problems other than some minor flexing because I didn't fix the chines to the last stringer/tailpiece. When I put a hatch in her this winter, I'll attach the chines so she doesn't flex so much.
