: Hi Bill and (Kudzu) Jeff

: I build custom fishing rods and use epoxy all the time, on the Rod Build .org
: website a gent that would post often is Ralph Quinn

: Ralph owns the U40 COMPANY

: His company (U40) manufatures Glues , epoxy, and special Urathanes and other
: finishes for fishing rod building, his permagloss urathane is the most
: bullet proof stuff I ever used!!! short shelf life though and $$ 8.00 for
: an oz would probably stick to nylon.

: Ralph has said many times that the PROPER WAY TO MIX EPOXY is IS NOT BY
: STIRRING!!

: stirring creates air bubbles and often results in incomplete mixture as well
: which can fail.

: Ralph advocates SPREADING an FOLDING Epoxy on somthing flat (I use aluminum
: foil) think of spreading peanut butter and jelly with a butter knife.

: I had oodles of problems with my rod finish untill I started spreading Vs
: stirring..

: I spread and fold houshold epoxy now , rather than stir (MUCH BETTER)

: "John"

Hi John,

That's the ideal for a thick epoxy, but the stuff we're using is liquid, would be hard to contain on a flat surface :)
