: OOooooh, John,
Hi Robert,

depends on where it broke a few options.

1) if the tip itself broke off you can get tip with a larger diameter bore and just glue it one (rod will be stiffer)

2) if its broke further down the section the best way to fix it is to cut the blank above and below the break and then find an old fiberglass rod and cut a piece that matches the taper as close as possible .

epoxy in the plug then wrap the edges of the blank with thread and then epoxy or varnish to prevent splitting. the key here is to use a material that is as flexible or more flexible than the original material.

if the plug isnt as flexible as the broken rod it will break somwhere else along blank close to the repair.

: I have a question. I was a bad boy one night while fishing from the kayak. I
: managed to break the end off my sweetheart real nice fishing rod. Can it
: be repaired? Apparently she spend good $$$ CAD on it and has had it since
: she was a teenager so there is a lot of affection for this rod. She caught
: her first salmon with it: a prize fish at that. She was pissed when she
: heard my excuses for breaking it (ineffectual excuses but it really wasn't
: my fault: the tip got caught in weeds and was driven into mud when it
: snapped off). Can you help me, Abby...er, I mean, John?
