Given a little thought to this. I'm not sure this will work, but it's worth the try. I'd think about putting sleeves into the tubes on one end to help strengthen the joints. With a boat that narrow and that long there should be almost no curve at all at the middle so this might work and would add considerable strength vs. just a bolt together bulkhead.
