: Yes it's a tough bend. Took clamps shoulder to shoulder...I had
: about 50 in use. Since it's a compound bend, I found that
: C-clamps really put the squeeze on any puckers so was glad I had
: several. I was able to bend the 1/16" thick maple strips
: completely around the riser and staggered the joints. For me,
: one strip at a time was the only way.

: If you can't make the tight bend at the front, a solid piece can be
: fabricated as in Nicks video.

: Use some spacer blocks (5/8" thick as I recall) to maintain
: the distance from the deck.

: Also walnut is not the easiest wood to bend. You might try steaming
: it if possible or using a heat gun as you work it around.

I did the same as Ian. Lots of clamps and many needed to be beyond what a sping clamp could do.
